About Us

The Wellsburg Elks Lodge sits on Charles Street in one of West Virginia's oldest river towns, and it carries that history in its bones. Members gather here not just for meetings but for the kind of face-to-face community that is harder and harder to find. The lodge has earned a 4.5-star reputation from locals who know the difference between a place that talks about community and one that actually shows up for it.

Every year the lodge throws open its doors for events like the apple festival, drawing families who fill the tables, order off the menu, and stay long enough to remember why small-town gathering spots matter. Kids come in with their parents. Neighbors run into neighbors. That is not an accident. It is the direct result of members who volunteer their time to make it happen.

The Elks have operated across America since 1868, and Wellsburg's chapter carries that national mission at a very local scale. Charitable giving, veterans' support, and youth programs are not talking points here. They are line items on the lodge's calendar, funded by fish dinners and festivals and the dues of people who believe a town is only as strong as the organizations holding it together.

What We Offer

The lodge hosts fish dinners that have become a Friday-night ritual for a loyal slice of the Wellsburg community. Plates come out fast, the room fills up with familiar faces, and the price point reflects the lodge's nonprofit heart rather than a restaurant's profit margin. It is the kind of meal where the conversation at the table matters as much as what is on it.

Beyond the dinner table, the lodge offers event space for private gatherings, a bar and lounge for members, and a full calendar of community fundraisers tied to the Elks' national charitable programs. Youth scholarship funds, veterans' assistance, and Hoop Shoot competitions for local kids are all part of what membership dollars support.

Becoming a member opens access to the facilities, the events, and a national network of more than 800,000 Elks across the country. Whether someone is a longtime Wellsburg resident or new to the area, the lodge is a straightforward way to plug into a community that has been doing the work long before it was trendy.

"At the apple festival with family. It is a FAMILY function. My whole family was at their tables set up inside. They all got fish or dogs there. And I was not allowed to eat my pulled pork fried with my family. I had to eat outside by myself. If this was a normalday and a normal restaurant things would be different. There was no waitress You went to the makeshift card table and ordered. I do not eat fish or hotdogs This was a FAMILY APPLE FESTIVAL."

A Proud Heritage

The Elks gave America
Flag Day.

Long before it was a national observance, the Order set aside June 14th to honor the flag. Patriotism has always been one of our cardinal principles, and every lodge meeting still closes the same way it has for over a century.
